Hi everyone!

He just won’t wear pants

I don’t know which came first.  Seth going upstairs to get his boots (and the trains he is holding) or taking his pants off.  This is what happens when I get busy and don’t see him for a few minutes.

Going Commando

Lately Seth will cry about 15 minutes after we put him to bed, and I’ll go up there and find his pants off and he’s crying because he’s having trouble putting them back on right…in the dark.  Sometimes in the morning he sounds more upset and I find him pant-less and diaper-less.  Tonight I got to go out, so I went up to kiss the boys while they were asleep.  This is what I found:

Scott says he didn’t fuss after he went downstairs.  At least once a day I don’t hear him for a while and I find him in the bathroom with his pants and diaper off.  Today, he even climbed on the potty by himself.  He hasn’t gone in the potty yet, and thank goodness the sheet was still dry tonight!

Fredericksburg

Scott and I got to take a trip, just the two of us, so we decided to go to Fredericksburg.  I love this town, but it is totally being taken over by Austin hippies.  It’s been over 5 years since we’ve been there, and there were hippies everywhere.  Shopping, running stores…it’s not quite the quaint little town I remember.  Despite that, I still love this town, when had some great shopping and did some awesome outdoors stuff.  This is from Enchanted Rock:

And then this post to just to remind everyone to nominate me for mother of the year.  Earlier in the month, Aiden had his first homework assignment ever.  We had a whole week to do it and it was due on a Monday.  When did we get it done?  That’s right.  Monday night of the day it was due.  What a great precedence to set.  Turning in his first assignment a day late.  That’s what happens to the son of a procrastinator.

Anyway, he had to disguise a turkey so that the turkey would survive through Thanksgiving.  He didn’t understand what disguise meant, so Scott told Aiden that the turkey needed a Halloween costume.  Of course, his immediate response was…”Robot”.  Scott did a great job of “helping” Aiden with his homework.

And finally, this is the picture I walked in on with the movie “Cars” on the TV.

I promise my couch potatoes play outside whenever the weather permits.

The day after Thanksgiving

I refuse to decorate for Christmas before Thanksgiving.  So the day after Thanksgiving is a big deal to me.  This year was kinda funny because a few days ago I mentioned to Scott, while the weather was still nice and warm, that my daddy and I always had the luck of putting up the outdoor lights on the ickiest and coldest day around Thanksgiving.  Well, today the weather was cold and icky.  Scott got about half the lights done outside because it was too cold for me to help him hold the ladder, so only the shorter stuff got done.  I’ll take outdoor pictures when we get it all done.

This year was Seth’s turn, and first time, to put the star on the tree. 

Aiden wanted to help too, although it was short lived.  I did get one picture of him putting a branch on.

And I just thought this picture was hilarious.  The boys had been playing outside and I asked Scott to clean the window before Thanksgiving.  Seth thought it was so funny to put his face up to the window that Scott was cleaning.

Overly Blessed

We got to host our first Thanksgiving in our new house.  It turns out Scott and I have no idea how to cook for only 6 adults.  We could have fed 3 times as many people.  But the fullness of our table made me realize how blessed we are, not only with food, but with family.

And then the kids table.  It was exciting to sit the kids at their own table, but of course we were hollering at them the whole time…”stop moving the table, sit on your bottom, eat some of your food…”

The kid with the full plate is obviously not mine, that’s our niece Emma, who will actually try other foods.  We just wanted to enjoy our foods, so the kids probably went to bed hungry because we didn’t force them to eat!

And then there was the turkey.  In my family, prime rib takes priority because my daddy and I do not like turkey.  So since the oven was occupied, Scott decided to fry the turkey.  He even went and bought a fire extinguisher just in case.  That was good because it started raining and he had to fry under the walkway.  Personally, I loved the boots.

We had a great Thanksgiving!

29 years or so

Check out these two pictures.  John is a dear family friend who we met when I was about 2.  My daddy and John have been great friends ever since.

Aiden (in a very sweet and innocent voice): But, Momma, I can’t see my mouth.  I have to go to the mirror to see it move.

Galveston

This group of pictures had to be their own post.  This was our first trip to the beach with the boys, and despite the chilly weather (the only cool weekend in September) the boys absolutely loved the beach.  Seth may have been near hypothermia when we finally took them out of the water.  You can see the progression of playing in the sand/mud in their clothes to finally being changed into their swim suits.  I thought Aiden would not like the icky-ness of the sand since he doesn’t like getting dirty, but he couldn’t get enough of it!  Thank you Kristen for inviting us!

Sorry there were so many pics, but be happy that I only posted a small fraction of what we actually took.  It was an awesome trip.  I can’t believe we almost turned around because of the weather.  It poured on the way down there, but despite the sky and gulf being the same color, the rain held off and our boys got a wonderful first trip to the beach.

I asked Aiden later that week if he wanted to go back and of course he said yes.  Then I asked him what he would think of a beach with white sand and blue water, and he seemed confused.  It’s good we started with the beach that gives low expectations, although a trip to Florida will be in our future!
