Fishin’

I’m not sure, but from the thoughtful look on my Dad’s face, I suspect this pic was taken after the catfish snatched Aiden’s fishing pole.  The question was when it will float to the surface.  I have blown up this picture, and they just about have the same look on their faces.

Scott’s getting pretty good with that camera, or lucky.  I love the reflection here.

Silly boys

I told them this was the one time they could make all the silly faces they wanted to in front of the camera.  It took Seth a minute to figure it out.

Biblical Logic

Since I cannot remember to write down the funny things my children say in a notebook I bought specifically for that over a year ago, I'm going to try to type them here.  They say stuff on the internet is on there forever, so theoretically I should always be able to go and find it.  I said "SHOULD be able to".

Anyway, Seth and I were on the couch watching Star Wars and he had his Sunday School lesson there and he was showing me the picture of the burning bush.  Even though he was interupting Star Wars, I thought that would be a teachable moment, so I proceeded to explain to him that God was the burning bush, and even though there was fire, that the bush did not actually burn up.  That was not where he wanted the story to go

Seth:  If I get on top of the burning bush, it will burn me and I'll have to pray to God.  But I don't know the words!

Me:  That's ok, I'll help you with the words, but why do we have to get on the burning bush?

Seth:  Because when (not if) Momma and Seth get on the burning bush, we will turn into fog (which he later clarified as smoke) and there will be no more Momma and no more Seth.

Me:  Hmmm, I guess we better not get on the burning bush.

Seth:  Yeah, we don't want to turn into smoke.

And I thought Aiden was my severely logical one.  Must be genetic.  By the way, the conversation continued on his part until every member of the family was on the burning bush and would turn to smoke and then no one would live in our house.  It could have been a really morbid conversation, but he was so animated and thoughtful that it was actually pretty funny.

It’s difficult

It’s hard to pick favorite pictures of your own child, but here’s my attempt.

AUG 2012 (6 of 62)

This one picture tells me I’m in for trouble.

AUG 2012 (16 of 62)

AUG 2012 (20 of 62)

There were a lot of serious poses, but I’ve come to realize that this may just be his personality.  He’s like that guy who is so serious all the time until he pulls one over on you, and then he can’t stop laughing.

Scott had to work for the smile.  He would jiggle him and make funny faces and the photographer (Mick Watson, no relation to us, but he is Kendra’s brother-in-law) would snap a bunch as quickly as he could.

I swear this pictures is like he is peering into my soul.

AUG 2012 (52 of 62)

This is their personalities in a nutshell.  Aiden shows you exactly how he feels, and Seth is whatever he thinks will get him what he wants. (in this case it was a cookie)

Aiden: adoring                            Seth: mischievous

Yep, that my boys.  It’s no wonder people keep giving me different opinions on who he looks like.  Based on all their three month pictures, I think he looks like Aiden with Seth’s eyes…but that could change next week.

Back to School

Here are all the new Kindergarteners in our bible study!

And here are all the kids minus the two babies.  What a handsome group of kiddos!

IMG_1150-2

And this morning was the first day of Kindergarten!  He did great and I didn’t even cry.  I was lucky enough that Scott wanted to take the day off, so he stayed in the car and I got to walk Aiden inside.  He sat right down in his chair, and listened to the teacher give instruction to another child about separating his baggie of marker caps by color.  Aiden started doing his bag before I left, and of course, he was lining his up with each color in its own neat little row.  No shocker there.  I told him was was going to go ahead and leave and he said “OK, bye mom.”  That should have made me cry, but I was instead so happy that he was comfortable enough to just go about his business.  When we picked him up, he actually had all kinds of things to tell us instead of his usual “fine” and “I can’t remember”.

On another note, Scott asked Seth what he was going to do without Aiden to play with this morning, and he smiled and said “I’m going to play with my Lightning McQueen, and Francesco, and Aiden’s Lightning McQueen.”  He had it all figured out.  I asked him at lunch if he missed his brother this morning, and without skipping a beat, it was a flat out NO.
